Can a chiropractor help with headaches?
Some headaches are related to neck problems, while others have different causes. Research suggests manual therapy may help some neck-related headaches, but that does not mean chiropractic care is suitable for every headache or migraine. An individual evaluation helps determine your next step.
What to tell your doctor
Describe where you feel the pain, how often it occurs, how long it lasts, and whether the pattern has changed. Mention neck stiffness, nausea, visual symptoms, medications, and any prior headache diagnosis. A brief record of your symptoms and triggers may help the conversation.
What happens at our Germantown office?
Dr. Keith or Dr. Jordan will review your history, perform an appropriate examination, and explain recommendations. If a musculoskeletal concern appears relevant, your doctor can discuss a gentle approach and any stretches or exercises that fit your circumstances. If another evaluation is more appropriate, that takes priority.
Do headaches always need neck treatment?
No. The presence of a headache does not establish its cause. Treatment choices should follow an assessment, and care should be coordinated with your other health professionals when appropriate.
When is a headache urgent?
Seek emergency medical care for a sudden, unusually severe headache or a headache with new weakness, difficulty speaking, confusion, or vision changes. A routine appointment is not the appropriate first step for these symptoms.
