Understanding your neck discomfort
Your doctor asks about the location and timing of symptoms, previous injuries, your medical history, and any pain or tingling traveling into an arm. The examination and your history help guide recommendations. Mention a recent fall or accident when you contact the office.
What does gentle neck care involve?
Dr. Keith and Dr. Jordan use a hands-on, low-force approach. Recommendations may include soft tissue work, stretches, exercises, or other individualized care. Ask your doctor to explain each proposed technique, its risks, and your alternatives. You can discuss your preferences before treatment begins.
Neck stiffness at work or while driving
Tell us whether looking at a screen, turning to check traffic, or holding your head in one position changes your symptoms. Note any discomfort traveling toward a shoulder or arm. These details help your doctor understand the problem; they do not by themselves establish a diagnosis. Bring any relevant reports from care you have already received.
Will everyone need the same treatment?
No. Neck pain has different possible causes, and the right next step depends on the examination. Some people may benefit from manual therapy; others need a different evaluation or a referral. The aim is to make an informed decision together.
Can I discuss treatment preferences first?
Yes. Explain any concerns about hands-on neck care, past experiences, or movements that are uncomfortable. Ask Dr. Keith or Dr. Jordan to explain the proposed approach and alternatives before care begins. Our first-visit guide explains the history, examination, and recommendations conversation.
Neck discomfort with headaches
If headaches occur along with neck symptoms, describe both. Headaches have many causes, and a neck complaint does not establish that the headache comes from the neck. Our headache page explains what to discuss at a visit.
When should you seek urgent care?
A sudden severe headache, new weakness, trouble speaking, or new vision changes warrants emergency medical evaluation. Do not wait for a routine chiropractic appointment for those symptoms.
